No matter where one travels in the world, it is only a matter of time before you will be visiting a world heritage site. The World Heritage List includes 878 properties. To make the list, sites must be of outstanding universal value as judged by the World Heritage Committee. A site must meet a least one of the ten selection criteria.
Some of these sites have hefty entrance fees, the Taj Mahal springs to mind here. Granted, this entry fee helps protect the sites into the future, however a balance must be struck. In the very near future visitors to many sites the world over, both world heritage listed and otherwise will need to carefully budget for their various entrance fees.
To help you keep track of which World Heritage sites you have visited, we have created a list for you.
