Every travel/trip plan will have different requirements depending on the countries you are visiting and the nationality of the traveller/s.
For those who are not sure where to go, a good place to start is to check out what flights and RTW tickets are on offer and how much they cost.
Once you have worked out where you want to go, you can establish a to do list and then prioritise it. This is essential, for example, you may need to apply for visas. Some countries may require proof of accommodation (at least the first night) that prove you are leaving the country, such as an onward flight.
Many companies specialise in Round the World air fares. There are plenty of sites where you can plan routes, but we did not find any where we could book the entire flight ourselves without incurring a fee. No doubt they exist. We booked with Travel Nation.
