What to Pack

It will come to the day when you can put the packing off no longer. When it comes to what style of luggage to choose, be it backpack (hiking style- top loading or backpack style-side zippers) or luggage, go smaller not larger. Inevitably, you will have to lift your luggage; you need to be able to do this comfortably.

You will also need to walk with your pack on freely: in crowds, around touts, avoiding pickpockets, getting on and off transport. A smaller compact bag can be swapped to your front and easily managed when jumping into taxis and rickshaws. In addition, leaving your pack in lockers can be a problem if it is huge.

As for what to pack, the old rule still applies: lay out everything you plan to take, then cut it in half. No matter how much you pack, you will still select a favourite outfit to wear and wear this more than other items. If you don't believe us, check through your last trip's pictures and see for yourself.
